The Bullwinkle Story
In 2003 we first started noticing Bullwinkle. Initially we thought that he'd be even nicer next year; as the years went by it was obvious that he had already reached his full antler potential. We would pass on shooting him early in the season, then he would disappear later in the season.
Bradley and his family joined our lease in 2006; that summer Bradley brought back a pair of shed antlers that he'd found. We all instantly recognized the sheds as Bullwinkle's.
The 2006 season got underway and we vowed not to let Bullwinkle slip by another year. As fate would have it, Bradley shot Bullwinkle.
What a trophy to find the sheds of a famous deer that you would later harvest!
We aged Bullwinkle to be at least 6 1/2 years old; one of his lower teeth was completely decayed. |
